In a significant move to bolster the nation’s semiconductor industry, the Myfab laboratories have been awarded substantial funding through a new initiative by the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth. This initiative aims to enhance the semiconductor ecosystem across Sweden and further strengthen the Swedish participation in the Chips Joint Undertaking.  

Researchers at Uppsala University have developed a new method for fabricating flat magnetic nanostructures. The new method makes it possible to create combinations of materials at the nanometer scale that were previously beyond reach with conventional lithography.

A specially designed diamond coronagraph can be used to search for Earth-like planets in other solar systems, such as Alpha Centauri. This summer, four diamond coronagraphs manufactured at Uppsala University will be delivered to the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) in Chile.   

Uppsala University is the new world record holder for electrical energy generation from CIGS solar cells. The new world record is 23.64 per cent efficiency. The measurement was made by an independent institute and the results are published in the journal Nature Energy.
