Excellence cluster applications – Myfab plays a key role

Sweden is currently in an active application phase to establish Excellence Clusters for Breakthrough Technologies, a national initiative led by the Swedish Research Council and Vinnova. These long‑term research and innovation environments aim to strengthen Sweden’s international position in strategically important technology areas through excellent research, innovation capacity, and collaboration with industry.

For many proposed excellence clusters, access to advanced research infrastructure is essential. As Sweden’s national infrastructure for micro‑ and nanofabrication, Myfab enables researchers and companies to translate ideas into fabricated devices, prototypes, and processes. Given the scale and long‑term nature of excellence clusters, early and structured dialogue with Myfab is crucial to ensure realistic planning in terms of capacity, support needs, timelines, and costs.

To support this, Myfab has developed the Excellence Cluster Use of Myfab framework.

The framework helps applicants clearly describe how Myfab will be used within their cluster, while ensuring feasibility, transparency, and alignment between cluster ambitions and infrastructure capabilities. Through this, Myfab acts not only as a service provider, but as a strategic enabler of Sweden’s next generation of world‑leading research and innovation environments.
