Elektroniktidningen explores how modern cleanrooms are evolving beyond traditional silicon-based semiconductor manufacturing. Facilities such as Myfab Uppsala now support a wide range of materials and processes, enabling innovation in areas including photonics, sensors and quantum technologies, while creating more flexible platforms for both research and industrial applications.

Ergo, Uppsala University’s student magazine, provides a closer look at the cleanroom through a guided tour with master’s student Elias Annerbo Lång. As part of his studies in sustainable energy engineering, he uses the facility to develop surface structures for solar cells – a concrete example of how the infrastructure supports both education and research linked to the green transition.
